Poland's Ministry of Defence updates on MiG-29 and F-35 plans

The Polish Ministry of National Defence has addressed parliamentary inquiries regarding the future of the nation's fighter jet fleet. In response to an inquiry by Andrzej Zapałowski, the Ministry stated it has not conducted analytical work regarding the conversion of retiring MiG-29 aircraft into unmanned combat drones or decoys.

Separately, State Secretary Paweł Bejda responded to questions from Mariusz Błaszczak concerning the acquisition of F-35 fighter jets. While Bejda did not provide a specific number for potential future purchases, he noted that the Armed Forces Development Program for 2025–2039 aims to maintain several squadrons of fourth and fifth-generation aircraft to ensure effective air defense and air superiority.

Currently, three F-35 jets have been delivered to Poland, with 14 expected by the end of 2026. The existing contract for 32 aircraft is scheduled for completion by 2029.
