Poland's Ministry of National Education plans exam and disciplinary reforms

The Polish Ministry of National Education is addressing systemic issues within the school system, focusing on examination standards and teacher disciplinary procedures.

Minister Barbara Nowacka has announced plans to meet with educators regarding the Polish language matura exams. Teachers and examiners have raised concerns over the lack of transparency and consistency in grading criteria. The goal of the upcoming discussions is to ensure more predictable and stable assessment standards for students.

Additionally, the Ministry is drafting a project to reform the Teacher's Charter, aimed at implementation by September 2027. The proposed changes seek to streamline disciplinary proceedings, which currently face significant delays. The new framework introduces a more nuanced scale of penalties, including a distinction between a reprimand and a formal reprimand, to better match the severity of infractions.
