Poland's Łowicz and Chełm launch citizen‑budget and border‑region surveys

Residents of the Łowicz area in the Łódź region can now vote on projects to be funded through the regional citizen‑budget programme. Proposed initiatives include a childbirth academy, free unihockey training, a children’s football tournament, water‑safety measures, a library renovation and a series of local heritage books, each ranging from 60,000 to 120,000 zloty.

In the eastern city of Chełm, the Institute of Urban and Regional Development is conducting an anonymous three‑minute survey for people living near Poland’s eastern border. The questionnaire targets citizens, local entrepreneurs and NGOs to identify development needs and inform recommendations for state support through 2027.

Both initiatives aim to involve local communities directly in shaping public spending and regional policy, with results to be used in future development strategies.
