Poland's Podkarpacie to gain faster rail links via integrated network plan

Poland's Port Polska company unveiled the Integrated Railway Network (ZSK) plan for the Podkarpacie region. The scheme includes building new lines and modernising existing tracks to shorten journeys to major cities. A new Warsaw‑Lublin line, upgrades between Lublin and Łętownia, and a fresh Łętownia‑Rzeszów segment aim to cut the Rzeszów‑Warsaw trip to about two hours and the Rzeszów‑Lublin run to roughly one hour.

The core corridor will run through Rzeszów, Mielec, Tarnobrzeg, Sandomierz, Ostrowiec‑Świętokrzyski, Radom and Warsaw, with projected travel times of about 2 h 10 min to Sandomierz and 2 h 20 min to Tarnobrzeg. Additional links will connect Rzeszów‑Mielec in 30 minutes and Rzeszów‑Kielc in 1 h 20 min. Direct services from Mielec and Tarnobrzeg to Krakow are planned to take approximately 1 h 20 min and 1 h 40 min respectively. The plan also envisages a northern network of routes linking Rzeszów, Kolbuszowa, Mielec and Tarnobrzeg, and an eastern “East Corridor” linking the region with Baltic states.
