Poland's Centralny Port Komunikacyjny moves ahead with terminal foundation works

Poland's Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) project, branded Port Polska, entered the construction phase in September 2024. The government signed a PLN 146 million contract with Budimex S.A. for deep‑foundation works on the new passenger terminal, with piling to begin in autumn and full construction slated for September 2026. At the same time, authorities approved the location for the Eastern rail junction that will link existing lines 5, 85 and 88 to the future airport, enabling high‑speed rail connections to major Central‑European cities.

The multimodal hub, planned for the Mazovian Voivodeship between Warsaw and Łódź, is estimated to cost around EUR 30.7 billion (USD 35 billion) and aims to handle over 300,000 aircraft movements annually. It will integrate air, rail and road networks, with new highways and a high‑speed railway reducing travel times to Berlin, Prague and Vilnius to about four hours. The project is expected to generate thousands of construction jobs—up to 16‑18 thousand workers on site—and create roughly 35 thousand permanent positions in aviation, logistics, hospitality and related services, boosting the domestic construction, transport and technology sectors.
