Poland's public buildings receive EU-funded energy upgrades and compete for Modernization of the Year
In Bytom's Miechowice district, the Municipal Preschool No. 44 is undergoing a major energy‑efficient renovation funded by a 2.3 million‑zloty EU grant. The overhaul, carried out by Infopolgaz, includes wall insulation, roof thermomodernisation, new heating systems and LED lighting, with the preschool portion valued at 1.1 million zloty and scheduled for completion by late October.
Separately, two projects from Bielsko‑Biała – the Książnica Beskidzka library and a new bridge on Eugeniusza Kwiatkowskiego Street – have entered the final stage of the nationwide Modernisation of the Year & Construction of the 21st Century contest. Jury visits began on 1 July, and the competition will announce winners on 10 September 2026 at Warsaw's Royal Castle.
