Poland's Recycling Policies Emphasize Multi‑Tech Plastic Processing and Strict Glass Segregation
BASF scientists state that achieving a closed‑loop for technical plastics requires a combination of recycling technologies. Mechanical recycling is energy‑efficient but limited to clean, homogeneous streams and cannot handle many engineered polymers such as modified polyolefins, polyurethanes and polyamides used in automotive parts. Solvent‑based and other advanced processes are needed for heterogeneous waste streams.
Polish local authorities stress that only glass packaging (bottles, jars) should be placed in the green bin. Items like window glass, tempered glass, ceramics, crystal, mirrors, light bulbs, drug containers, plant pots and thermometers must go to mixed waste, with fines up to 500 zł for improper segregation.
