Poland's Retail Giants Allegro and InPost End Dispute as Orlen Launches Stop Cafe

Allegro and InPost have signed a letter of intent that ends months of legal and financial clashes and outlines a new multi‑year out‑of‑home delivery contract running to 2031, while InPost will phase out its Fresh service. Orlen opened a pilot "Stop Cafe" outlet on a Warsaw station, offering coffee, snacks, baked goods and an automated flower vending machine to compete for city‑center shoppers. Żabka has completed a major store remodel in Warsaw, introducing a modern design and a focus on fresh and premium products. Lidl announced that its 1,000th Polish store will open in the summer, though the exact location remains undisclosed.

Separately, leading Polish retailers disclosed workforce data. Biedronka employs about 89,500 people (average age 39.6, 84 % women), Kaufland has roughly 16,000 staff (median age 43, 81 % women) and Lidl employs around 29,000 workers. The reports highlight gender imbalances in store roles and longer tenure among a substantial portion of staff.
