Poland’s SAN anti-drone system draws interest from Czech military

The Polish SAN anti-drone system has emerged as a significant technological model for regional defense, drawing particular interest from the Czech military. The system is designed to detect, track, recognize, and neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by integrating various sensors and combat tools to match the response to specific threat levels.

A primary advantage of the SAN system is its cost-effectiveness; it provides a way to counter mass-produced drones without the economic inefficiency of using expensive anti-aircraft missiles. The system is intended to function as a core component of Poland’s multi-layered air defense architecture.

As the Czech Republic works to develop its own protective capabilities, military analysts suggest the country could either draw direct inspiration from Poland or participate in Polish procurement contracts. While the Czech Republic already produces related components such as radar and short-range effectors, it currently lacks a unified architecture. Additionally, Slovakian arms manufacturers are reportedly collaborating on the development and production of the SAN system.
