Drone incident at Redzikowo missile defense base

Overview

On September 15, an unauthorized civilian drone was detected near the Aegis Ashore missile defense base in Redzikowo, Poland. The Polish Ministry of National Defence confirmed the drone flew within a restricted no-fly zone, approximately 500 meters to 1 kilometer from the US Navy-operated facility, for about five minutes.

Military officials stated that air defense systems monitored the drone and that it did not pose a threat to critical objects. Rather than immediate neutralization, a military duty officer notified civilian emergency services and the police. The Ministry is currently coordinating with law enforcement and has identified the drone’s location of operation.
