Poland's tax authority scrutinized over data security and bank account seizures

Senator Grzegorz Bierecki has demanded answers from the Ministry of Finance about the Krajowy System e‑Faktur (KSeF), which processes financial data for millions of Polish firms. He questioned which domestic and foreign IT companies, such as Imperva Thales, handle the data, where the servers are located, who owns the service contracts and the cost of the system. The ministry responded by refusing to disclose details, citing state secrecy, leaving questions about the security and control of entrepreneurs’ fiscal information unresolved.

Separately, the Polish tax administration routinely employs seizure of bank accounts as a measure in tax‑collection enforcement. This practice can instantly cripple a company's liquidity and operations. Guidance notes outline the legal avenues businesses can use to contest such seizures, emphasizing the need to understand the specific enforcement procedure applied by the tax office.

Both issues highlight growing concerns among Polish enterprises about the transparency and impact of tax‑authority actions.
