Poland’s ZUS school‑supply program receives over 50,000 applications

More than 50,000 families have submitted applications to ZUS for the Dobry Start school‑supply benefit, which provides a one‑time 300 zł payment per child enrolled in school. The aid is available to children up to age 20, or up to 24 for those with a disability, and is paid out before the first September school bell if the request is filed by the end of August. The program applies regardless of parents’ income and covers textbooks, notebooks, equipment and other school necessities. Foreign children living in Poland who are not citizens of the EU/EFTA/UK – as well as Ukrainian nationals with UKR status – are also eligible provided the parent was employed in the month preceding the application, with required documentation of legal residence.

Separately, the Gmina Siedlisko municipality announced free transport and caretaker support for children with disabilities for the 2026/27 school year. Under the 2016 Education Law, the gmina will either provide complimentary transport with on‑board care or reimburse parents who arrange their own transport, provided applications are submitted by 15 August 2026.
