Polestar 3 Performance electric SUV undergoes real-world testing

The Polestar 3 Performance, a high-end electric SUV priced at 106,900 euros, has undergone practical testing revealing significant differences between laboratory specifications and real-world usage. While the vehicle delivers impressive power—500 kW (680 PS) and 870 Nm of torque—enabling a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds, its energy consumption varies greatly depending on driving conditions.

On the Autobahn, the vehicle's range drops significantly compared to the WLTP estimate of 601 kilometers, reaching only approximately 380 kilometers due to high speeds. Consumption on the highway averages 26.6 kWh/100 km, potentially rising to 40 kWh/100 km under high speeds or headwinds. However, the vehicle compensates with high-speed charging capabilities; despite an official maximum of 350 kW, testing showed it reaching a net 370 kW at a 400-kW charger, allowing a 3% to 80% charge in 26 minutes.

The SUV features an 800-volt architecture and adjustable air suspension, allowing drivers to modify ground clearance for off-road use. While efficient in urban environments with 19.7 kWh/100 km, the high power demands during long-distance travel highlight a trade-off between performance and range.
