Polestar announces second‑gen Polestar 2 and new Polestar 4 SUV

Swedish EV maker Polestar, a Volvo spin‑off, is preparing two new models. The second‑generation Polestar 2 will feature a sportier exterior, a slightly larger body for more rear‑seat space, updated battery technology and increased range. Under the direction of new CEO Michael Lohscheller and design chief Philipp Römers – formerly of the Volkswagen Group – the model retains the current powertrain (268 hp single‑motor or 416 hp dual‑motor) while adding a lower ride height, dual‑blade headlights and a driver‑focused cockpit. Polestar plans to launch the new Polestar 2 commercially in the summer of 2027.

Separately, spy shots from the Nürburgring show the upcoming Polestar 4 SUV, which appears more like a station wagon with a rear glass panel. The vehicle keeps the front‑end styling of the current model, adds roof rails and retains the same front bumper design. Expected performance figures include up to 544 hp and a claimed 630 km (≈390 mi) electric range. Production units are slated to reach Dutch Polestar dealers from 2 September.
