Polestar enters luxury segment with Polestar 5 electric sedan

Polestar is entering the luxury segment with the launch of the Polestar 5, a high-performance electric grand tourer. Positioned above the brand's existing SUV models, the vehicle features a custom-developed platform and an aluminum body constructed using adhesive techniques rather than traditional welding to enhance torsional rigidity and driving precision.

The Polestar 5 is available in two primary configurations. The Dual Motor variant offers 550 kW (748 PS), while the Performance version delivers 650 kW (884 PS) and 1,015 Nm of torque. This top-tier version utilizes a rear motor developed in-house by Polestar paired with a front motor from ZF. The vehicle is equipped with a 106 kWh net capacity NMC battery and an 800-volt architecture supporting charging speeds up to 350 kW.

Starting at a price of 118,600 euros, the first vehicles are expected to reach the market in October. Despite its high-end positioning, the design philosophy emphasizes the removal of certain features, such as rear-axle steering and air suspension, to focus on core driving dynamics.
