Navracsics and Ferencz launch Polgári Demokraták movement

Tibor Navracsics, a former minister, and Orsolya Ferencz have launched a new social initiative called 'Polgári Demokraták' (Civic Democrats). The movement aims to foster dialogue across political divides to reduce societal polarization in Hungary, regardless of party affiliation.

Several figures have joined the initiative, including Gyula Porga, the mayor of Veszprém. While the movement is being viewed by some as a potential sign of a split within the Fidesz party, Fidesz communications director Bertalan Havasi has dismissed these claims. Havasi stated that Fidesz remains 'completely unified and in excellent condition' and that the initiative is a personal endeavor of Navracsics and Ferencz that does not require official party authorization or impact Fidesz's core mission.

Navracsics noted that the movement is necessary because political divides have deepened recently. He emphasized that the goal is to connect with voters rather than political parties. Meanwhile, some Fidesz politicians, such as János Pócs, expressed concern that such movements could lead to a fragmentation of the right-wing political landscape.
