Police and bank staff thwart major fraud and impersonation scams

In Taiwan, police and bank staff in Yonghe successfully prevented a 61-year-old man from losing 14 million TWD to an investment scam. The man intended to purchase 3 kilograms of gold after being contacted by a group calling themselves ‘JCQ Investment Consultant’ via messaging apps. Bank employees grew suspicious of the transaction and alerted the police, who confirmed the presence of suspicious investment advice on the man's phone.

In China, police in Qingdao arrested a man identified as Song for running a series of scams involving impersonating a military officer. Song, who had no fixed occupation and significant debt, used military uniforms and falsified resumes to target single women on social media. By building romantic relationships and making marriage promises, he defrauded more than 10 women of varying amounts of money before being apprehended.
