Police and church host local cycling safety events in Germany

The Kreis Soest police department invited motorcyclists to a free "PoliTour 2026" on 5 July 2026. Starting at 08:45, participants rode with officers to several locations where they received practical advice on motorcycle safety, attention in traffic and common accident causes. Registration was required via e‑mail and the event was limited to a set number of riders. The invitation also noted 2023 traffic‑accident statistics for North Rhine‑Westphalia, which recorded 637,365 crashes, 450 fatalities and over 68,000 injuries.

On 6 June 2026, the Martin‑Luther parish in Markkleeberg hosted a bicycle festival at the "Fahrradkirche" Zöbigker, celebrating the church’s 300‑year anniversary. The afternoon featured a second‑hand market for children’s clothing and bicycle gear, a skill‑course for children aged three to seven, a historic church tour at 16:00, and coffee and cake. Participants were asked to bring helmets, water bottles and, if possible, reusable cups. The event highlighted sustainable mobility and community heritage.

Both events aim to promote road safety and foster local engagement around cycling and motorcycling.
