Police and tax authorities seize thousands in border enforcement operation
A large-scale traffic enforcement operation on the A77 near Siebengewald, close to the German border, resulted in the seizure of over 38,000 euros for the Dutch Tax Administration. During the operation, authorities also collected an outstanding fine exceeding 1,000 euros.
Police inspected a total of 293 vehicles and issued approximately 30 citations. Beyond standard traffic violations, such as mobile phone use and defective headlights, officers discovered illegal items including a blunt object and brass knuckles. One driver attempted to evade the checkpoint but was apprehended following a brief pursuit.
The operation targeted mobile banditry and organized crime, specifically focusing on how criminal networks utilize cross-border transport to move illegal goods, weapons, or people. The enforcement action involved multiple agencies, including the Dutch Police, the Tax Administration, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, and the German Bundespolizei.
