Police arrest suspects in Como and Bari for series of aggravated shop thefts

In Como, police detained a 26‑year‑old man of Moroccan origin after he was recognized by a shop employee as the perpetrator of a recent aggravated theft. The suspect, who has a record of previous property crimes, was caught near the store, found with a stolen hat hidden under his jacket, and was formally charged with aggravated theft.

In Bari, authorities arrested a 28‑year‑old man suspected of committing eleven smash‑and‑grab robberies against businesses in the city centre over roughly one month, with a concentration of incidents in January. Investigators say the suspect repeatedly broke shop windows and stole merchandise, prompting heightened alarm among local merchants.

Both arrests were carried out by the Italian State Police and underscore ongoing concerns about repeat shop thefts in the two cities.
