Police arrest suspects in separate gold fraud and theft cases in India

Police in Karnataka have arrested individuals in two separate incidents involving gold-related fraud and theft.

In Bengaluru, Yeshwanthpur Police arrested two men for allegedly using false pretenses to steal gold from women. One victim reported that an individual, claiming connections to a film producer and a Zilla Panchayat President, lured her to a lodge under the guise of resolving a land dispute. During the encounter, the accused stole her gold chain. Authorities recovered gold ornaments and a mobile phone valued at approximately Rs 19 lakh.

In Mysuru, a jewellery shop owner named Mohan Lal was taken into custody following allegations of a gold savings scheme fraud. It is reported that Lal collected monthly installments from more than 80 people with the promise of providing gold, but subsequently closed his shop and left the city. Kuvempunagar Police are currently investigating the total amount collected and the number of affected customers.
