Gold theft and fraud incidents in Karnataka

Police in Karnataka have arrested individuals in connection with two separate incidents involving gold-related theft and fraud.
In Bengaluru, Yeshwanthpur Police apprehended two men accused of using false pretenses to steal gold from women. One reported case involved an individual who allegedly used claims of connections to a film producer and a Zilla Panchayat President to lure a victim to a lodge, where a gold chain was stolen. Authorities recovered gold ornaments and a mobile phone valued at approximately Rs 19 lakh.
In Mysuru, a jewellery shop owner named Mohan Lal was taken into custody regarding a gold savings scheme fraud. Lal is accused of collecting monthly installments from more than 80 people with the promise of providing gold before closing his shop and leaving the city. Kuvempunagar Police are investigating the total amount collected and the number of affected customers.
