Pakistan police arrest family members for TikToker's murder

Rawalpindi police have arrested five suspects, including the father and brother of 28-year-old TikToker Shamsu Bibi (also known as Ayesha Gilamana), in connection with her murder in Taxila.

Investigators allege the killing was an ‘honour killing’ motivated by family disapproval of the victim’s social media activities. While the victim’s father initially attempted to frame the incident as a ‘blind murder’ resulting from a financial dispute, police say technical evidence and CCTV footage from over 100 cameras exposed a conspiracy.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Malik Tariq Mehboob, the murder was allegedly planned during a family meeting, or jirga, in the ancestral area of Lower Dir. The suspects, who include the victim's father Fazal, brother Bashir, and several cousins, are accused of orchestrating the drive-by shooting that occurred on August 14. The attack also left the victim’s sister and brother injured.
