Pune police arrest contract worker for alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old

Pune police have arrested a 52-year-old contract sanitation worker, identified as Jaisingh Sathe, for the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in the Vishrantwadi area. The incident reportedly occurred on September 12.

The investigation began on September 22 after a medical officer notified authorities that the child had been brought to a hospital for treatment. Following a statement from the victim's 40-year-old mother, police filed charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Authorities have since added further charges under BNS and POCSO sections, and a report regarding these additional legal measures is being presented to the court. The accused, a resident of Shramik Nagar, works on contract for the Pune Municipal Corporation.
