Cluj-Napoca traffic halted by massive aircraft component convoy
A 46‑metre long, 52‑ton aircraft component was being moved from Bucharest’s Henri Coandă Airport to Cluj International Airport as part of a scheduled operation running from 10 – 19 July 2026. The convoy, escorted by the Romanian traffic police, travelled through several counties and entered Cluj‑Napoca on Traian Vuia street, where it temporarily blocked traffic in both directions. Drivers reported seeing what appeared to be an airplane on the road, but the vehicle was a specially equipped transport carrying a decommissioned aircraft part intended for training and emergency‑response drills. The operation was carried out under legal permits and no injuries or road‑safety incidents were reported.
