Police conduct traffic enforcement in Germany and Austria
In separate incidents in Germany and Austria, police conducted enforcement actions targeting traffic violations.
In Willich, Germany, a 44-year-old officer sustained minor injuries during a traffic stop on Gießerallee. The incident occurred when a 19-year-old motorcyclist attempted to evade a check by driving onto a sidewalk. The officer was dragged several meters before both the officer and the suspect fell into nearby bushes. The suspect was briefly detained, and his motorcycle was seized due to suspected technical modifications. Authorities also investigated potential drug influence.
In Vienna, Austria, a large-scale traffic operation targeting cyclists and e-scooter riders resulted in 155 fines totaling 7,460 euros, 40 formal reports, and 24 warnings. During technical testing, police discovered e-scooters reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h. Other violations included riding on sidewalks, ignoring red lights, and improper equipment.
