Police crack down on illegal alcohol in Ecuador and Colombia

Ecuadorian police seized about 30 liters of unlicensed handcrafted alcohol and three packs of contraband cigarettes during a community festival in Guano, canton Guano. The operation, conducted by the National Police in coordination with the National Commission, inspected vendors, removed the illicit products and destroyed them to enforce health and safety regulations.

In Bogotá, Colombian police and the city’s security secretariat suspended eight bars in the districts of Ciudad Bolívar and Usme after finding adulterated liquor, expired beer, and minors drinking on the premises. The raids, part of a special security plan for the World Cup, also resulted in fines, drug seizures and the transfer of two individuals to a protection center. Both actions aim to curb illegal alcohol sales and protect public health.
