Police crack down on truck driver violations on D1 highway
Police in the Moravian-Silesian Region conducted a specialized traffic enforcement operation on the D1 highway between Fulnek and Ostrava. Officers from the Mankovice, Ostrava, and Frýdek-Místek departments utilized drone technology to monitor heavy vehicle compliance.
The operation specifically targeted trucks weighing over 3,500 kilograms and combinations exceeding 7 meters in length. Authorities focused on drivers failing to maintain sufficient speed while overtaking, which restricts the flow of other vehicles, as well as improper lane usage and mobile phone use while driving.
During the several-hour action, police identified 15 traffic violations. All drivers admitted to the offenses, resulting in on-the-spot fines totaling 68,500 CZK. Violations included improper lane driving and mobile phone usage.
