Police Detain Drunk Fugitive in Ciechanów After Road Threat and Insult

On July 2, police in Ciechanów, Poland, stopped a 24‑year‑old man who was driving under the influence and creating a danger on Przasnyska Street. The suspect fled on foot into a field, was pursued, and was captured after verbally abusing the officers. Records showed he was already wanted under a court‑issued warrant for a two‑year prison term. After being detained, he was placed in a police cell, charged with insulting a public officer, and later transferred to a correctional facility.

Polish police emphasized that insulting a public official carries penalties ranging from fines to up to one year of imprisonment, while aggravated assault can lead to up to ten years.
