Police dismantle illegal Alprazolam factory in Mahabubnagar, Telangana

The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE Force) of the Hyderabad Narcotics Police raided a poultry farm on the outskirts of Annasagar village in Buthpur mandal, Mahabubnagar district, Telangana on July 19, 2026. The operation uncovered a clandestine Alprazolam manufacturing unit.

Authorities seized 1.150 kg of the benzodiazepine, valued at about Rs 20.30 lakhs, together with production equipment and chemicals. Four men were arrested: alleged mastermind Malela Jaya Prakash Goud, repeat offender, along with Chedurpalli Krishnaiah, Gaddagidi Balanjaneyulu and Boya Narasimhulu, the landowner.

Investigators say the drug was being supplied to local dealers for adulterating toddy, posing health risks to consumers in Mahabubnagar and neighboring districts. A fresh case under the NDPS Act has been filed, with probes focusing on chemical procurement, financial trails, shelter locations and the broader syndicate.
