AAP accuses BJP of using gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to intimidate Diljit Dosanjh after party refusal
Aam Aadmi Party leaders, including Anurag Dhanda and Punjab cabinet ministers Harpal Singh Cheema and Balbir Singh, alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party orchestrated an attack on the house of Punjabi singer‑actor Diljit Dosanjh’s manager in Karnal. They claimed the attack was carried out by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a criminal outfit whose leader is imprisoned in Gujarat, and described it as retaliation for Diljit’s rejection of a BJP invitation, labelling it an “anti‑Punjab” mindset.
The party cited statements such as, “Just a few days ago, the BJP had invited Diljit Dosanjh to join their party, which he outrightly rejected. Just two days after this refusal, an attack took place at his manager’s house,” and warned that the BJP was using gangsters to intimidate celebrities.
Karnal police, however, investigated the claims and found no evidence of any firing or assault at the manager’s residence. The senior police officer noted that no complaint had been lodged, no damage was observed, and the incident was dismissed as a rumor.
The dispute underscores rising political tension between the AAP and BJP in Punjab, with accusations of political intimidation meeting official denials.
