Police in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, conduct encounters with criminals

Police in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh conducted multiple encounters with suspected criminals, resulting in several arrests and injuries.

In one incident near Khairi Ghat, a joint team from the Special Operations Group (SOG) and local police intercepted two vehicles during a checking operation. A man identified as Sambhari, a history-sheeter with over three dozen criminal cases, was shot in the leg during an exchange of fire. Police arrested three other individuals—Mahesh Chauhan, Mohit Lal, and Anil Vishwakarma—and recovered an illegal pistol, ammunition, a vehicle, stolen jewellery, and cash. Two other suspects fled the scene.

In a separate encounter under the Baundi police station jurisdiction, police intercepted suspects Jabir (alias Zakir) and Naseem. After an exchange of fire, Jabir was wounded and taken into custody, while Naseem was later intercepted near Nanpara, where he sustained a leg injury during a pursuit. Police recovered cash and gold and silver jewellery from the suspects. Authorities have launched search operations to apprehend those who fled.
