Police intercept drug shipments in France and Benin

Law enforcement agencies in France and Benin have conducted separate drug seizures involving significant quantities of narcotics.

In France, police intercepted a ‘go-fast’ convoy traveling from Spain toward Grenoble. Following intelligence work by Isère police, surveillance teams tracked the vehicle from the Drôme region to Décines-Charpieu in the Rhône department. The operation resulted in the seizure of 270 kilograms of cannabis, including 252 kilograms of resin. The sole driver was taken into custody and placed in pre-trial detention.

In Benin, police in Malanville intercepted a boatman carrying two packages of Indian hemp. During the inspection near the Malanville bridge, the suspect attempted to escape by jumping into the Niger River but was apprehended with the assistance of local residents. The suspect claimed the drugs originated from a corn vendor in Gaya, Niger. An investigation is underway to identify potential accomplices.
