International drug and pharmaceutical trafficking operations

Overview

Law enforcement agencies across West Africa and Europe have conducted various operations to intercept illegal narcotics and falsified medicines.

In West Africa, authorities in Côte d’Ivoire seized 13 kilograms of cannabis and destroyed smoking dens during the ‘Épervier spécial’ operation. In Senegal, police dismantled a network in Grand-Yoff selling psychotropic substances and falsified medicines, including Tapentadol, amoxicillin, and ibuprofen. In Guinea, the Anti-Criminality Brigade intervened at a nightclub in N’Zérékoré, resulting in the detention of two individuals.

In Benin, police intercepted a suspect attempting to flee across the Niger River with packages of Indian hemp, which the individual claimed originated from Niger. Meanwhile, in France, police intercepted a ‘go-fast’ convoy traveling from Spain, resulting in the seizure of 270 kilograms of cannabis, including 252 kilograms of resin.
