Police intervene in domestic violence cases in Czech Republic and North Macedonia

In a Czech village near Chotěboř, police responded to a domestic‑violence call after a 48‑year‑old husband, intoxicated with a blood‑alcohol level of 2.76 ‰, verbally abused and threatened his wife with a knife. Officers removed the man from the shared home and placed him in a detention centre, continuing the investigation as an attempted bodily harm case.

In North Macedonia, police acted on seven separate domestic‑violence reports over a single night, resulting in the arrest of six suspects across several municipalities, including Skopje, Kumanovo, Ohrid, Bitola and Debar. The incidents involved physical assaults, knife threats, and intimidation of spouses, partners and children, with ages of victims ranging from teenagers to seniors. Detained individuals were taken into custody or, in one case, transferred to a health facility pending further action.
