Police intervene in Scania regarding firefighting vehicle procurement

Police have intervened at the Scania company premises in Senec regarding a controversial procurement of firefighting vehicles. The investigation is linked to a contract for 80 vehicles worth approximately 46 million euros, managed by the Ministry of Interior and awarded to LRK Trading. Much of the equipment is intended to be funded by EU funds.

While political figures have raised concerns about the procurement, the Fire and Rescue Service stated that the police presence was to supervise warranty service on a vehicle superstructure and prevent unauthorized manipulation during the process. This follows a separate incident in early September where criminal investigators seized a Scania vehicle from a Bratislava fire station.
