Slovak criminal police have launched an investigation into a €46 million procurement process for 80 firefighting vehicles. The contract, managed by the Ministry of Interior and awarded to LRK Trading, involves equipment intended to be funded by European Union funds.

In early September, investigators seized and sealed a new Scania firefighting vehicle at a Bratislava station. This action was part of a probe into potential tampering with the vehicle’s identification number (VIN) and the circumstances surrounding the use of EU funds. The Ministry of Interior confirmed that criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the procurement, delivery, and commissioning of the equipment.

By late September, police intervened at Scania company premises in Senec. While political figures have raised concerns regarding the procurement, the Fire and Rescue Service stated the police presence was to supervise warranty service on a vehicle superstructure and prevent unauthorized manipulation during the process.
