Police intervene in violent brawl in Apahida, Romania

Around 02:30 on 20 June 2026, a fight broke out on a street in the town of Apahida, Cluj County, between two groups whose dispute stemmed from earlier disagreements and alcohol consumption. Police, a special actions unit and two mobile gendarmerie teams responded, dispersing the confrontation. One group comprised five men (24‑31 years) and a 15‑year‑old minor; the other had three men (33‑37 years) and a 17‑year‑old minor. Four people required medical attention and were taken to a hospital in Cluj‑Napoca. Two men, aged 29 and 33, were detained for questioning. A criminal case was opened for offenses including assault, illegal entry, and property damage, with the investigation continuing under a prosecutor’s supervision.
