Police investigate arson in Berlin and serious pedestrian accident in Hochberg

In Hochberg, an 87-year-old woman was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in a shopping center parking lot. The incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon when a 34-year-old driver, attempting to pull out of a parking space toward a nearby gas station, reportedly overlooked the pedestrian. The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment.

In Berlin, police are investigating a basement fire in Kreuzberg as suspected arson. The fire, which broke out on a Tuesday evening at a residential building on Mariannenplatz, caused significant smoke to spread through hallways and apartments. Approximately 50 firefighters responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze. Residents were able to secure themselves within their homes during the operation.
