Police investigate death of Maria Ionescu in Abruzzo

Police in Abruzzo are investigating the death of 66-year-old Maria Ionescu, who was found dead hanging from an olive tree in the countryside near Francavilla al Mare. Her body was discovered by a local resident walking a dog, located in a rugged area near the A14 highway.

Ionescu had previously disappeared from the Alento Ovest service area on the A14 motorway while traveling from Rimini to Taranto with her partner. Her partner was questioned by authorities for several hours as a person informed of the facts. He claimed she had returned to the service area to retrieve a forgotten scarf before they lost contact. Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the possibility of a dispute preceding the event.
