Police investigate major theft in Rimini and fraud arrest in Sicily
Police in Italy are investigating two separate criminal incidents involving significant financial losses.
In Rimini, thieves targeted the home of a lawyer, stealing cash, gold, and watches valued at approximately 300,000 euros. The perpetrators reportedly entered the residence without leaving obvious signs of forced entry, as the door was closed but not fully secured with the lock bolts. Investigators are looking for potential links between this theft and other recent incidents in the province.
In Sant’Agata di Militello, two individuals from the Catania province were arrested following a scam targeting a 77-year-old woman. The suspects allegedly impersonated a relative and a Carabinieri marshal to trick the victim into handing over 700 euros in cash and over 6,000 euros worth of gold jewelry. Following a high-speed pursuit on the A20 motorway, police intercepted the suspects near the Rocca di Capri Leone exit.
