Police investigate murder of millionaire Vladimir Yankov

Bulgarian authorities are investigating the brutal murder of millionaire Vladimir Yankov, whose charred remains were discovered in Bankya. Police are currently examining whether the crime was an act of robbery or if the perpetrators had inside information regarding the businessman's habits.

Simona Peycheva, a former national rhythmic gymnast and current TV presenter, was questioned by police in connection with the incident. Reports indicate that Peycheva and Yankov had a heated argument regarding money at a restaurant hours before the murder. While she was detained for questioning, investigators have stated that her direct involvement in the execution is currently excluded.

The primary theory suggests Yankov was killed by thieves during an unexpected return to his home. Suspects linked to a gang from the Lyulin district are being investigated. To conceal evidence, the perpetrators reportedly used bleach and set the house on fire. Surveillance footage shows two hooded men near the residence, and the Ministry of Interior has interviewed over 40 individuals as part of the ongoing investigation.
