Police investigate various fraud and theft incidents across Ontario and British Columbia

Law enforcement agencies in Canada are investigating several distinct fraud and theft cases. In Puslinch, Ontario Provincial Police are investigating three connected incidents where a car dealership was allegedly targeted by individuals using fraudulent identification to secure vehicle financing.

In Shelburne, a 27-year-old man faces multiple charges, including theft and fraud, after a wallet was allegedly stolen from a vehicle at a local dealership. This follows a series of reported thefts at retail and grocery stores in the area.

In Oakville, Durham Regional Police are seeking Jessan Vernet-Fort, 31, in connection with a SIM card swap scam. The investigation alleges the suspect used a victim’s identity to bypass two-factor authentication and make unauthorized credit card purchases.

Meanwhile, the Richmond RCMP in British Columbia has issued a warning regarding a sleight of hand scam targeting online marketplace sellers. Suspects reportedly use distraction techniques to swap high-value items, such as luxury watches, for envelopes containing worthless paper, with reported losses exceeding $22,000.
