Police investigate separate job fraud cases in India

Authorities in India are investigating two distinct incidents involving fraudulent promises of government employment.

In Himachal Pradesh, a woman working as a bank peon was arrested in the Hamirpur district for allegedly defrauding jobseekers of approximately ₹20 lakh. The accused reportedly promised government appointments to unemployed youths in Hamirpur, Palampur, and Rampur. Following complaints from multiple victims, police discovered that refund cheques issued by the woman had bounced due to insufficient funds. Non-bailable warrants had been issued against her in several courts prior to her arrest.

In Telangana, police in Ghatkesar have registered a case against a man identified as Jaganmohan for allegedly duping a woman of ₹4.5 lakh with the promise of a municipal office position. The victim reported that after receiving the money, the accused diverted her to a resort where he physically and sexually assaulted her. The victim further alleged that the man pushed her out of a moving vehicle on a highway before fleeing. Investigations into both matters are ongoing.
