Police investigate two fatal shootings in Recoleta, Chile

Authorities in the Recoleta commune of Santiago, Chile, are investigating two separate fatal shootings that occurred over a single weekend.

On Saturday morning, a 26-year-old Dominican national was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on El Salto Chico street. The victim was discovered in front of a residence, prompting an investigation by the Organized Crime and Homicide Team (ECOH) and the Homicide Brigade (BH) of the Investigative Police (PDI). Investigators are currently reviewing ballistic evidence, witness statements, and security camera footage to identify the perpetrator.

On Monday morning, a second shooting occurred near the intersection of Juárez Larga and Juárez Corta. A man, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, was targeted by occupants of a vehicle who opened fire. Police recovered more than 20 ballistic projectiles at the scene. Investigators are also examining reports that at least one bullet struck a nearby apartment building. The identity of the victim has not yet been formally released.
