Police killed in Ziarat attack sparks mass protests in Balochistan

On the night of 6‑7 July 2026, armed militants attacked police personnel in Kach Mangi Phase‑III, Ziarat, abducting several officers and murdering the survivors. Security analysts linked the assault to coordination between Fitna al Khawarij (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army.

In response, families of the fallen officers have staged a continuous sit‑in at Koila Phatak Chowk in Quetta, displaying 28 bodies and demanding a judicial commission, security guarantees and accountability for alleged lapses by the army and intelligence services. The protests have blocked major transit routes, halted traffic and strained emergency services, while accusing senior military officials of compromising local security and supplying militants. The unrest is being compared to recent civilian uprisings in Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir.
