Police officer arrested for alleged defilement of 16-year-old in Kakamega

Wycliff Kwendo, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Lumakanda Police Station in Kakamega County, has been arrested following allegations of defiling a 16-year-old girl.

According to reports, Kwendo allegedly lured the girl’s parents away from their home by claiming a multi-agency security operation was imminent in the area. He advised the couple to stay at a local entertainment establishment for their safety, promising to return for them in the morning. However, the parents grew suspicious and returned home early, finding their house locked from the inside.

Upon being let in by their daughter, the parents reportedly discovered Kwendo inside the house in an improperly dressed state. The incident escalated when the mother allegedly attempted to secure evidence, including condoms found at the scene. It is reported that Kwendo threatened the mother with a firearm to prevent her from taking the items. He also allegedly took the couple’s mobile phones and offered them KSh20,000 in an attempt to settle the matter privately.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a formal investigation. The teenager was taken to Lumakanda Sub-County Hospital for medical examination and forensic evidence collection. Kwendo is currently being held at Kakamega Police Station.
