Police officer killed and another critically injured in Dominican Republic accident

A fatal traffic accident on the highway connecting La Otra Banda and La Ceiba in the La Altagracia province has resulted in the death of a Dominican National Police officer and left another in critical condition.

The deceased officer has been identified as 22-year-old Michael Isaías Manzueta Pérez, originally from Santo Domingo. His colleague, Vreidy Afontin Michell Breidy, sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, and is currently receiving treatment at the Higüey Traumatological Center.

Preliminary reports indicate the officers were traveling on a black CG motorcycle when they collided with a white SUV. While some unconfirmed reports suggest the collision may have occurred during a pursuit, authorities are still investigating the exact circumstances. The driver of the automobile involved has surrendered to the authorities, and both vehicles have been seized for investigation.
