Police officers targeted in shooting near Yuriria and Valle de Santiago

State security officers from the Fuerzas de Seguridad Pública del Estado (FSPE) were targeted in a shooting during patrol duties on a rural road connecting Yuriria and Valle de Santiago in Guanajuato. The incident occurred near the community of San Vicente Zapote after officers attempted to intercept a suspicious vehicle.

During the confrontation, the armed suspects opened fire on the patrol unit, causing damage to the official vehicle. The officers returned fire, prompting the attackers to abandon their vehicle and flee on foot into a hilly area. It was later reported that the suspects stole another vehicle in the vicinity to evade capture.

A coordinated search operation has been deployed involving the Mexican Army, the National Guard, FSPE, and municipal authorities. While a pearl-colored Cadillac was recovered at the scene, no arrests have been made and no injuries to officers or civilians were reported.
