Police pursue high-speed motorcycle chases in Germany and Austria

Two separate incidents of high-speed police chases involving motorcycles and mopeds were reported in Germany and Austria.

In Germany, an unidentified motorcyclist fled from Saarlouis police on August 6. After being spotted on an unplated motorcycle in Siersburg, the driver ignored commands to stop and fled via the L170 to the A8 motorway. Police estimated the rider reached speeds of approximately 160 km/h, performing dangerous overtaking maneuvers and driving on the wrong side of the road. The pursuit was eventually terminated near the Dillingen-Süd junction to prevent a potential accident.

In Austria, a 17-year-old male fled from police near Lake Achensee on a Friday afternoon. After ignoring multiple attempts to stop him on the L7 Achenseestraße, the individual accelerated onto the B181 toward Wiesing, performing high-speed and dangerous maneuvers. The chase ended when the rider hit a total road closure on the B181. The driver surrendered his license at the scene, and police noted suspicions regarding potential substance impairment, which the individual refused to undergo medical testing for.
